Filth

Por fin he encontrado un hueco para ponerme al día con las películas. Hoy traigo un título poco conocido, Filth. Se trata de una película bastante laureada del género independiente. Y en ella aparecen varios actores y actrices de renombre como su protagonista James Mcavoy.

La película trata sobre el descenso a los infiernos de un policía de Edimburgo. Un hombre con una gran fama en la comisaria que lucha por un ascenso pero cuyo estilo de vida deja mucho que desear: sexo, drogas  y rock and roll sería poco para definirlo.  Estos excesos acabarán por  pasarle factura y trastornarán por completo su manera de verlo todo.

Es un placer volver a pasear por las calles de Edimburgo en una película diferente con viejos tópicos como el policía cuya vida se ha ido al garete y cuyas adicciones le hacen ver la vida de una forma distorsionada. No es que sea aburrida, pero no me acaba de convencer del todo. Eso sí, James Mcavoy hace un gran papel y sorprende.

Mi valoración es un 5.

Finally I’m back with some more movies. Today I bring something new and different, and not very famous though, Filth. This is an independent movie pretty rewarded. And some famous actors and actresses played their roles in it, such as James McAvoy.

The film is set in Edinburgh. A police man, who is trying to get a promotion, is involved in a spiral of sex and drugs which are affecting him and his chances of promotion. There is a new case and he thinks that as long as he resolves it, her wife and daughter go back at home with him and everything is going to be all right again. But his way of living doesn’t let him to see the reality crystal clear.

It is a pleasure to be wander around Edinburgh one again. But Filth is a different movie with old topics such as the police man whose life has gone down the drain and whose addictions make him to be even worse. It is not boring but there is no anything new. I suppose that I was expecting something else. On the other hand, James McAvoy gives a remarkable performance.
