Serena

El pasado jueves de noche en la sesión semanal de cine en casa vi Serena. Un drama interpretado por la famosa pareja cinematográfica Jennifer Lawrence y Bradley Cooper.

La película trata sobre el matrimonio entre un joven  en edad casamentera de procedente de Carolina del Norte y una indómita amazona huérfana de Boston. El hombre posee un negocio maderero por lo que la mujer debe irse a vivir al campo con él. Y aunque todo parece ir bien entre ambos y ella se ha acostumbrado perfectamente a la vida del campo, todo cambia cuando se dan cuenta de que jamás podrán tener hijos. Este hecho trastorna por completo a la mujer, Serena, que además acaba por perder los nervios cuando una antigua novia de su esposo vuelve al pueblo con un bebé…

La verdad es que desde el minuto uno la película no parecía demasiado interesante. El argumento es simple, nada entretenido, y peca de aburrido en muchas ocasiones. La interpretación de ambos, pese a ser grandes actores de renombre ni siquiera lograr salvar la película. La verdad es que no esperaba nada de ella, pero aun así no me ha convencido en absoluto. Ni siquiera es entretenida para una tarde de aburrimiento.

Por todas esas razones, mi valoración esta vez es de un 3,5.

Last Thursday night during my weekly session at home I watched Serena. A drama played by the famous cinematographic couple Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.

The film is set in the countryside in North Carolina and the main characters are a young guy of marrying age born and raised in North Carolina and an indomitable orphaned horsewoman from Boston. They met in Boston, they got marriage and they moved to North Carolina where they are the owners of a logging company. Although everything seemed to be alright between them, and after she finally had got used to living in the countryside, everything changes suddenly when they find out that they won’t have a child ever.  This is going to disrupt completely their lives, mostly Serena’s. Besides a former love from his husband has returned to the town with a baby boy…

The truth is that since the very beginning the movie didn’t seem entertaining at all. The plot is pretty simple and quite boring. Even if they are great famous actors, in this movie they don’t achieve to envelope the viewer into the story with their performances. I didn’t expect anything from it, but either way I didn’t like it at all. It’s not even good for a boring afternoon.

So for all these reasons, my score is 3.5 this time.
