Son of a gun

Después de un breve descanso durante el fin de semana, una  nueva película para aplacar este lunes: Son of a gun.

La encontré por casualidad buscando algo que ver, y de repente me di cuenta de que entre los protagonistas están Ewan McGregor o Alicia Vikander entre otros.  Es una película australiana muy al estilo de acción americano.

El argumento trata sobre un joven que es encerrado en la cárcel y allí conoce la crudeza de esta vida sin el amparo de alguien con experiencia en este entorno. El personaje de Mcgregor será su “padrino” dentro de la cárcel pero para ello, cuando el joven salga debe hacerle un pequeño favor, sacarlo a él y a sus dos compañeros. El joven aprenderá que no es tan sencillo salir de esa espiral de violencia y delitos en la que sus nuevos amigos están envueltos, máxime si la persona de la que te enamores es la novia del jefe.

En general la historia no está mal, trata de sorprender a veces, aunque no lo consigue del todo.  Ewan McGregor  está magnífico como villano. Lo cierto es que la cinta no tiene grandes pretensiones, y en su estilo, lo hace bien. Es cine entretenido para una noche o tarde sin nada que ver.

After a break for the weekend, I come today with a new movie in order to soothe this hard Monday: the film I’m reviewing today is Son of a gun.

I found it by serendipity looking for something to watch, and I realized that some main characters were famous actors and actresses like Ewan McGregor or Alicia Vikander. It is an Australian movie with a touch of the American action films.

A young male is locked in jail where he feels how hard is to survive without protection or some help from other convicted people. The role who plays McGregor will be his sponsor in jail but, his help has a price: the young guy is going to help him and his two friends to go out from there. He will learn that it is not that easy to run from the violence and crimes which his new friends are involved in, all the more since this boy is in loved with his boss’ girlfriend.

On the whole, the plot is not bad and tries to surprise sometimes. Ewan McGregor is amazing giving this performance of a villain. The truth is the movie doesn’t have high aspirations, and that’s fine. It is quite entertain if you don’t know what to watch.
