La fuente de la vida// The Fountain

La semana pasada fue bastante óptima en cuanto a ver películas se refiere, pero salvo esta película de la que os voy a hablar, las demás pertenecen a diferentes sagas por lo que cuando acabe de ver todas las películas de ellas hablaré de ellas (espero que a finales de esta semana o a lo sumo la semana que viene pueda hacerlo). La película que traigo hoy es La Fuente de la vida.

La película está dirigida por Darren Aronofsky y en ella un doctor e investigador interpretado por Hugh Jackman trata de salvar y encontrar una cura para la enfermedad mortal de su esposa (Rachel Weisz). Mientras tanto, su esposa escribe una historia en sus últimos días cuya historia  viaja desde la España del siglo XVI hasta el futuro  para encontrar el árbol de la vida, cuya savia otorga la inmortalidad.

No sabría muy bien cómo describir esta película, tétrica, difícil de ver y de entender. Ni la historia es buena ni sugerente, ni siquiera los reputadísimos protagonistas consiguen hacerla más atractiva. Sé que mucha gente la alaba por ser capaz de tratar un tema como es la búsqueda de la inmortalidad de una forma única, sorprendente y nueva. Pero a mí no me gustó en absoluto.

Por cierto, como nota, la parte de la película que está basada en la España del siglo XV o XVI es tan patética y mal ambientada que hasta da risa. ¿La reina de España  vivía en la mezquita de Córdoba?

Lo siento, una gran pérdida de tiempo,  me habían avisado pero tenía fe en que mis gustos a veces tan extravagantes y peculiares inclinasen la balanza en un positivo…. No fue posible.

Last week was pretty good regarding to watch films. However all movies I watched belong to different sagas but one. This one is The fountain. The rest of movies from these sagas I will post them at the end of this week or the next one when I finish every saga.

The Fountain is directed by Darren Aronofsky. It is set between USA in nowadays, Spain in 15 th century and the future. A doctor ( Hugh Jackman) is searching a cure for his wife’s mortal sickness (Rachel Weisz). In the meantime she is writing a novel whose story starts in Spain during XV century and finishes in the future, this entire time people is seeking the tree of life whose sap brings immortality to whom drink it.

I couldn’t describe this movie at all. For me it seemed gloomy and hard to understand and watch. Neither the plot is good nor the famous cast made it more attractive. I have read many people who value this movie above all, and really enjoyed it. But I’m not among them. The way Aronofsky addresses the topic of  the immortality is weird.

By the way, for the record, the recreation of the Spanish Empire is pathetic and ridiculous. Did ever the Spanish queen living in the mosque of Cordoba? Seriously?

I’m so sorry for those who love this movie, but it was such a loss of time for me. And my family and some friends of mine had already told me how bad could it be, but I still have some faith… they were right though. It is awful!
