Se han acabado las vacaciones y toca volver a trabajar. La
semana pasada no tuve mucho tiempo para ver nada y así que no tengo demasiado
trabajo acumulado… Hoy voy a hablaros sobre otra película documental: Una hija
modelo: el asesinato de Caroline Byrne.
Es una película australiana dirigida por Tony Tilse. Está
basada en hechos reales sobre el caso Caroline Byrne, una joven modelo que
apareció muerta en junio de 1995 en Sidney. A lo largo de la película se
muestran dos claros antagonistas, la familia de Byrne, el padre desolado que
busca incansablemente la verdad y el propio novio de la víctima, que aparece siempre
en el momento oportuno en el lugar menos indicado, toma decisiones extrañas, y
omite o miente según le convenga creando sobre su una presunción de culpabilidad.
La película cuenta la nada fácil vida de Caroline, y la línea de investigación
de su asesinato.
Es una película aceptable para un sábado a las cuatro de la
tarde. Nada del otro mundo tampoco. Todo pasa como se presupone que va a
ocurrir. Los actores son correctos, sobre todo David Lyons, el actor que
interpreta el papel de novio. Y el guion está bien, pero sin ir más allá de lo
correcto y bien.
Así que mi valoración es un 5.
Vacation is
over so it’s time to get back to work. I hadn’t much time last week so I couldn’t
watch any film at all. And the one I’m bringing today is from two weeks ago. It’s
another documentary film, named A model daughter: the killing of Caroline
Byrne.
It is an Australian
movie directed by Tony Tilse. It is also based on true story about the case of
Caroline Byrne. She was a young model who appeared dead in June 1995 nearby
Sidney. All along this film we can clearly identify two antagonist characters:
the former, Caroline’s family, specially his devastated father who wants to
find the truth tirelessly, the latter, Caroline’s boyfriend. He’s always where
he shouldn’t be in an unappropriated moment; he makes strange and bad decisions
all the time and omits or lies according to what is the best for him. The film
tells us a brief summary about the life of Caroline and the investigation of
her death/murder.
In my
opinion, the movie is simply OK for a Saturday afternoon. It’s not a big deal
but OK. From the very beginning you know how everything is going to develop.
The actors and actresses are good, David Lyons is remarkable playing his role
of Caroline’s boyfriend. The script is OK too. But the movie never goes beyond
the goodness and correction.
So my score
is 5 this time.
