Bueno, la semana pasada no pude ver demasiadas películas,
pero casi que mejor porque solo tengo tiempo para escribir hoy, mañana y
pasado, suficiente para lo que traigo esta semana.
La primera película es Líbranos del mal, dirigida por Scott
Derrickson. En ella el agente de la policía neoyorkina Sarchie interpretado por
Eric Bana se ve involucrado en un caso de crímenes extraños. A medida que el
caso avanza, empiezan a sucederle cosas sin aparente explicación y que nadie
más puede ver u oír. Dichos casos parecen finalmente estar en relación con algo
maligno y demoníaco lo que le llevará a trabajar con un cura poco ortodoxo y
con un pasado peculiar que se dedica a realizar exorcismos ( Edgar Ramírez).
La película está a medio camino entre thriller y película de
terror sobre exorcismos, teniendo partes de ambos géneros sin llegar a ser
ninguno en concreto- Tiene una serie de sustos bien buscados y efectivos pero
no originales, pero tampoco la historia tiene nada de sorprendente: desde
marines traumatizados por la guerra, al policía con demasiada carga de trabajo
cuya mujer protesta por no pasar tiempo con ella (pero no del casoplón y el
status de vida que tienen que seguramente sin ese trabajo no podría tener). Eso
sí, nunca había visto a un cura jesuita exdrogadicto, con recaída incluida y
cuyos votos son bastante dudables. En cualquier caso, no es para tirar cochetes
pero se puede ver cuando no hay nada que hacer ni que ver en la lista (que yo
si tenía cosas en ella, lo que no tenía conmigo en aquel momento era la propia
lista).
Es un 4,5, a medio camino también entre el aprobado y el
suspenso.
Morning
everyone, last week I couldn’t watch many movies but, I think it is not so bad
due to the lack of time for posting this coming week. Actually I will only
upload posts today, tomorrow and the day after.
The first
movie is Deliver us from Evil directed by Scott Derrickson. It is set in NY. A
police officer named Ralph Sarchie and performed by Eric Bana is involved in a
spate of murders under strange circumstances. As long as the case is moving
forward, strange things start to happen to the police officer, things that no
one else is able to see, hear or understand. Finally those murders seem to be
in relation with something evil. So Sarchie starts to work with an
unconventional priest (Edgar Ramírez). This guy works as exorcist.
The movie
is divided between thriller genre and horror about exorcisms, having a bit of
both worlds. It has several great scares but they are not originals though. The
plot has nothing surprise either: traumatized marines, a cop who works many
hours and whose wife is complaining because he doesn’t spend time with her (but
she doesn’t complain about her big detached house and her way of living which
they won’t have if it weren’t for his husband’s hard work). Now, I have never seen a Jesuit priest like
that one, ex drug addicted, and let me say, whose vows are terrible doubtful.
Anyway, it ain’t a great great movie but you can watch it when you don’t have
anything else to watch or do (certainly I had some more movies on my list that
evening but, I hadn’t he list there…)
So I’d say
it is 4,5.
